Digital Archive of Singapore Tamil Dance

Dance.jpg

The Digital Archive of Singapore Tamil Dance (DASTD) is the final edition in the series of digital archives that the National Library Board (NLB) and the Tamil Digital Heritage Group (TDHG) have been jointly developing over the years.  This repository has been made possible by the strong support from and participation by many contributors ranging from dance schools, small groups to individual musicians. Various dance-related materials such as video recordings, programme booklets and photographs have been collected. They have also been curated, annotated and digitised  to provide a wealth of online information to anyone interested in this collection, which will be inaugurated in November 2019.

DASTD is one of several digital initiatives undertaken by the TDHG in collaboration with NLB to preserve and promote Tamil language and culture in Singapore. Just like the previous digital archives, DASTD will serve as an educational resource for practitioners, a reference source for scholars, a teaching tool in the classroom, a historical account for posterity and a contribution to national arts resources.

NLB looks forward to expanding this resource over time and any contribution of materials to this collection would be most welcome. Donation offers may be made to NLB through the following ways:

Chief Co-ordinator: Dr Lavanya Balachandran
